How to Choose a Portfolio Recipe

After you have chosen a Portfolio Recipe, you are now ready to invest. This How-To Guide is the next steps in "How to Invest Using a Portfolio Recipe," which follows "How to Choose a Portfolio Recipe." Please contact us if you have any questions.

1. Signup for a Free or Investor subscription.

2. Find a few Portfolio Recipes that look interesting

  • Log-in at go.recipeinvesting.com/login and click "Portfolio Recipes" to see all the portfolios we track.
  • Find the scatterplot at the top of the page (see example below). Each dot represents a different Portfolio Recipe, plotted by its Risk and Return.
  • Look for portfolios closest to the green smiley face at top left of the chart. These portfolio recipes have lower risk and higher return. Hover over or point to any dot to see the portfolio ticker or ID. The Free Subscription includes the hover-over feature for the 1-year scatterplot. The Investor Subscription includes the full set of features for all graphs.
  • For each portfolio that you're interested in, note the portfolio ID (e.g., t.srvz)

You can also browse the list of Portfolio Recipes that appears below the scatterplots. An excerpt is shown below. Click on the column headings (e.g., "10 year") to sort by that column.

3. Get the Portfolio Recipe and details

After you have found a Portfolio Recipe that you are interested in, click on the Recipe Name to see the full details, explore the Portfolio Recipe's performance metrics covering risk, return, and risk-vs-return over 1, 3, 5, 7, and 10-year periods.
